We have put together this fantastic tour of Chile to help you see as many highlights as possible during your stay, including the capital of Santiago, the dry Atacama Desert, the lush green Lake District, the world famous Torres del Paine National Park, and the magnificent wine regions of Colchagua and Maipo.

 

Detailed Itinerary

 

Day 1: Santiago

Upon arrival at Santiago Airport, please clear immigration, collect your luggage, and proceed to the arrivals hall where your driver will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel in the city. After a few hours at leisure, you will embark on a half-day city tour of Santiago.

Overnight: Santiago  

 

Day 2: Santiago – San Pedro de Atacama

After breakfast, your driver will transfer you back to the airport for your onward flight to Calama. Here, your driver will collect your and take you to San Pedro, where you will enjoy the silent moonscape of Valle de la Luna with its backdrop of snow-capped volcanoes 

Overnight: San Pedro de Atacama

Day 3: San Pedro   

After a leisurely breakfast, you will head off into San Pedro visiting the pre-Hispanic artefacts in the Gustavo Le Paige Museum, the colonial church, the pre-Columbian village Tulor, and the Inca fortress of Pukara de Quitor.  In the afternoon, you will visit Tocanao, a volcanic whitewashed village and the huge Atacama Salt Lake.

Overnight: San Pedro de Atacama

Day 4: San Pedro - Machuca

Today you have an early start, departing at around 4:00am for El Tatío Geysers, a geothermal field flanked by soaring peaks, a breath-taking sight.  In the village of Machuca, you will learn about the local life at the former resting place for llama caravans that travel the world famous Inca Trail.

Overnight: Machuca

Day 5: Machuca – Puerto Varas

After breakfast today, you will transfer to the airport of Calama, where you will board your connecting flight to Puerto Montt.  From here, you will take a short city tour before heading to your base for the night, Puerto Varas, on the shores of Lake Llanquihue.

Day 6: Puerto Varas

Today you will drive along the picturesque lake of Llanquihue to Petrohué, located in the Vincent Pérez Rosales National Park.  Here, you will board a catamaran to navigate across the Lake Todos los Santos to Peulla enjoying beautiful views along the way. After exploring Peulla and enjoying lunch, you will return to Puerto Varas for an evening at leisure.

Overnight: Puerto Varas

Day 7: Trip to Chiloee Island

After breakfast today, you will take a full day excursion to the mythical Chiloée Island.  If weather conditions allow, you will visit the penguin islands “Islotes Puñihul”, near Ancud, where Humboldt and Magellan penguins live and breed.

Overnight: Puerto Varas

Day 8: Puerto Varas -  Puerto Natales

After breakfast, you will transfer back to the airport for your onward flight to Punta Arenas.  On the way to your hotel in Puerto Natales, you will stop off and visit the penguin colony at Seno Otway.

Day 9: Puerto Natales – Torres del Paine 

Today you depart for Torres del Paine National Park.  Once in the park, you will pass Laguna Amarga and Lake Pehoé and enjoy the beautiful views of the Paine Massif and the famous Torres del Paine as you make your way to your hotel. 

Overnight: Torres del Paine

Day 10: Torres del Paine – Viña del Mar  

Today you will fly back to Santiago, where your transfer will be waiting to drive you to the Garden City of Viña del Mar, adorned by many parks, palm trees and great boulevards. After checking in to your hotel, the rest of the day is at leisure to explore this pretty city.

Overnight: Viña del Mar

Day 11: Viña del Mar – Santa Cruz 

After a city tour of both Valparaíso and Viña del Mar, you will continue your journey to the famous wine valley of Casablanca, where you will be treated to a wine tour and a delicious lunch.

After lunch, you will transfer to Santa Cruz for an overnight stay at a winery.

Overnight: Santa Cruz

Day 12: Santa Cruz - Colchagua  

Today you will get the chance to explore in depth the true wine culture that has made this valley so famous.  By taking the Ruta del Vino (the wine route), you will be able to see first-hand the grape vines that produce such exquisite reds as the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chile's unique Carmenère.  After visiting two vineyards, sampling award winning wines and having a great lunch, you will head to the Museo de Colchagua for dinner and overnight.

Day 13: Colchagua - Santiago

After breakfast today, you will start heading back towards Santiago, stopping at one of the most traditional wine valleys of this region first, the Maipo Valley.  Situated on the foothills of the Andes and fairly close to the big city, this Valley is surrounded by impressive mountains and is home to one of the most privileged climates in the central part of Chile.  Here you will visit the vineyards of Santa Rita Estates, founded in the 1880s, for wine tasting and lunch.

Overnight: Santiago

Day 14: Departure / Easter Island Extension

Today you will have the last few hours to enjoy the beautiful city and shop for souvenirs before transferring back to the airport for departure. Those extending their stay with a tour of Easter Island will transfer accordingly.
